About

Originally this blog was created as a record of what I cook each day for my family. It has become a collection of our favorite dishes.  Like any home cook, I have off-days when my creations don’t turn out as planned.  I usually don’t post a dish that we didn’t love.  I want anyone who tries my recipes to have a great experience and a delicious outcome, so I only post the dishes that worked.  I consider myself to be an accomplished home cook. I am always trying to find ways to perfect dishes and try new ingredients. I believe in using local, seasonal ingredients as much as possible. All photos are taken by me or by my wonderful, supportive husband.

    Hey Carrie,

Fabulous blog. Harley sent the link to me yesterday and Cindy and plan on checking in regularly to see what the Great Chef has in store.

Finally – more Carrie recipes!! I’ve worn out your very first published (at least on the YGH press, circa… 1997 or something) cookbook and have been dying for more Macca/Cowan kitchen secrets! I’m thrilled to see your beautiful face, drool over your amazing photos, and know that you are still creating in the kitchen. Hugs to you, sweets!

Carrie, I never knew you were such a fantastic cook! I agree with Brookie, I’m always drooling over your photos — whoever is taking the pics is doing, well, almost as good as the one doing the cooking!

Hey Debbie! Thanks for the comment and for subscribing too! I take most of the pictures with Harley’s fancy camera. Harley takes some of them as well- it just depends on the timing and whether my hands are clean or not:)

Hi there! Joey’s neighbors with the chickens here 🙂 Thanks to FB and your brother we found your wonderful blog! Chris will be trying these yummy recipes out for us! Thanks!

Hi Vicki and Chris! Thanks for taking a look at my blog. We were visiting Joey last week and noticed how big your Buff Orpingtons are. They seem a lot bigger than ours. What do you feed them? We are feeding ours triple duty laying feed, cracked corn as a snack, and sometimes our leftover kitchen scraps. I’d love to know your secret!

Found your post on the Martha Stewart Frozen Chiffon Rainbow Cake when I was planning to make it for my good friend’s birthday. ( We devoted cooks think alike. ). Thanks to your post, I doubled the meringue recipe to combine with the fruit purees, so I only made meringues three times instead of five; they’re all done and sitting in the freezer now waiting to be frosted. I’ll definitely take cake pics if it comes out; also plan to double the frosting recipe right off the bat, again thanks to your comments. Wow, did you save me time and heartache !

Hi Carrie, Jenny introduced me to your Blog and suggested I try your Thanksgiving dishes. I did your brine turkey and savory dressing, they were both wonderful. Now I am looking forward to trying many more. Cheers! Wishing you and your Family and very wonderful Christmas. Barb
