When you marinate a steak and slice it thin you can get away with a much leaner, less expensive cut of meat. Also, when you serve steak pre-sliced, people will eat less of it so you don’t need to buy as much. Besides, marinated steak is super yummy. Serves 4.
- 2 top sirloin steaks, about 10 oz. each
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- juice of one lemon
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 C. olive oil
- 1/2 C. fresh mint, chopped
Place the steaks in a shallow dish. Distribute the garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper, oil, and half of the mint evenly over the steaks. Cover and marinate in the fridge for one to three hours. If you are in a hurry you can let it sit on the counter for 1/2 an hour instead of the fridge. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Grill the steaks for about 5 minutes on each side. Discard the marinade. Let the steaks sit and rest for ten minutes before slicing thin across the grain. Top with the rest of the fresh mint and serve.

Yum, and a good excuse for me to use mint and eat steak.
